West Virginia's 7-run explosion dooms Sliders

BECKLEY, W.Va. — West Virginia scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning and that’s all the Miners needed in handing Slippery Rock a 7-4 loss in Prospect League action Tuesday night.

All seven runs were charged to Slippery Rock starting pitcher Luis Flores.

West Virginia didn’t get a hit after the second inning as Sliders’ relief pitchers Daniel Harms, Brent Roerhich and Zack Walsh tossed seven scoreless innings.

Ryan Abernathy, Radley Haddad and Pat Gelwicks each had two hits for Slippery Rock (3-9). Both of Gelwicks’ hits were doubles, while Abernathy also had a double.
