Assistant superintendent named at Butler
BUTLER TWP — Brian Slamecka, the assistant principal of Butler High School, is the new assistant superintendent, secondary, of the Butler School District.
He was named this morning to that position by the school board.
Slamecka will receive $120,000 at the start of a five-year contract.
Board members Bill Halle and Jim Keffalas voted against the contract, but the board unanimously approved his hiring.
Slamecka's father, Jerry Slamecka, is the district's assistant superintendent for personnel, technology and federal/state programs.
Board members said his father's position in the district did not influence their decision.
Brian Slamecka joined the district in 2000 as a chemistry teacher at the high school.
