William Jacob Smith, 62, of Butler passed away Thursday at VA Butler Healthcare.

He was born Aug. 31, 1949, in Lansing, Mich., the son of the late Norval F. and Betty (Ferne) Smith.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, watching movies and reading. He was a truck driver for various companies.

Surviving are his wife, Deborah Durkac of Natrona Heights; a son, Rusty (Christine) Smith of Ashville, Pa.; a daughter, Susan Smith of Butler; a grandson, Cameron Smith of Fredonia, Pa.; a granddaughter, Jamie Tarr of Butler; a sister, Sandy (Ed) Lutz of Cabot; one niece; and three nephews.
