A Butler man who robbed one convenience store and broke into another will spend up to 6 years in state prison.

In court Monday, 35-year-old Chad A. Weinschenk apologized.

“Regardless of my drug addiction, I am responsible for my actions,” he said.

Weinschenk pleaded guilty to robbing the S & S Market in Franklin Township in March 2011.

Additionally, Weinschenk pleaded guilty to felony trespassing at Hilltop Mini Mart in Oakland Township three weeks prior to the S & S Market robbery.

In that case, Weinschenk reportedly used a key to enter the store, where he worked at the time, and stole about $500.

Butler County Judge William Shaffer sentenced Weinschenk to the terms of a plea arrangement with the county district attorney’s office: He will spend 30 to 72 months in state prison, followed by 5 years of probation. He must pay $317 in restitution to S & S Market and $1,240 in restitution to the Hilltop Mini Market.

The judge decided Weinschenk’s prison term will run at the same time he is serving an unrelated 3- to 6-year sentence in Lawrence County. Court records in that case say the charges stem from a 2007 theft involving nearly $16,000 in restitution.
