Dr. Champ Randall Storch
Dr. Champ Randall Storch, 82, of Logan House, Lower Burrell, formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away at 1:30 a.m., Sunday at the Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights.
He was born in Catasauqua, Pa., Dec. 11, 1929, to Fred R. Storch and Alice W. (Engler) Storch.
He married Marjorie Lynn (Elliott) Storch on Aug. 15, 1959. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2011.
He graduated from Moravian College in 1956, and received his master of education in 1958 and his doctorate at Penn State University in 1963.
He served in the Korean War and received a purple heart when he was wounded in the line of duty.
Beginning his tenure at Slippery Rock University as vice president of student affairs in 1969, he later served in various administrative and teaching positions and retired in 1998 as chairperson of Academic Support Services at Slippery Rock University.
He was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church, Slippery Rock, and was an avid golfer with pals at Shamrock Golf Course. He loved Saturday dinner dates with his wife, spending time with family and friends, traveling, being at the gym and watching his movies.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas Champ Storch of Nashville, Tenn., and Douglas Scott and his wife, Sharon, Storch of Lower Burrell; and grandchildren, Zachary James Luffy, Abigail Rose Storch and foreign exchange student Carlos Arroyo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, Fred; and his sister, Kathryn.
STORCH — Services for Dr. Champ Randall Storch, who passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012, will be at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, at 6 p.m. Wednesday.Friends will be received from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military honors will be observed immediately following the service. A bereavement reception will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at North Hall, Slippery Rock University.Contributions may be made in Champ's name to the Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard at the Center Presbyterian Church, 211 Center St., Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
