FRANKLIN, Pa. — A packaging and labeling plant near here plans to lay off 53 of 125 workers because it’s moving some work to plants in Ohio and Wisconsin.

WS Packaging spokesman Steve Bishara said that two different types of label printing operations are housed in the plant in Sandycreek Township. One of the operations is moving to the other plants.

Bishara said the layoffs are effective Aug. 31, but said the affected workers have already been notified and will receive severance pay and help finding other jobs.

Parent company WS Packaging Group is based in Green Bay, Wis. The company’s web site says it has 19 locations in 11 states and Mexico.
