Camps, concerts hosted by SR park
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock Parks and Recreation will offer a number of activities this summer:
• July 11, 18 and 25 and Aug. 1, 6:30 p.m., Watermelon Wednesdays offers free performances by bands and watermelon.
• July 18, 6 to 8 p.m., BFF Camp, in which children in grades three through six can take a best friend and make a matching T-shirt and friendship bracelet.
• Aug. 4, 8 a.m., Junk in Your Trunk, in which participants can pull into a parking lot and sell items out of their vehicles’ trunk. Registration fee is $5,
• Aug. 18, 8 a.m., Triathlon at Armco Park, Route 173. Participants will swim, bike and run through the park. People who register by Aug. 3 pay $15 and get a free T-shirt. People who register after that will pay $20.
• Mini camps for children will take place every week in the summer, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays through Fridays. Each camp will have a different theme. There are camps for two different age groups, ages 3 to 5 and ages 6 to 10. Call the park to register and get more information.
• The park also offers discount tickets for Regal Theater, Sandcastle, Pittsburgh Zoo, Kennywood, Cedar Point, Splash Lagoon, Waldameer and Idlewild and Soak Zone.
