Dorothy 'Dott' E. Nunamaker

Dorothy “Dott” E. Nunamaker, 81, of Sugarcreek Township passed away Monday at her home.

She was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Kittanning to the late Robert D. Rhea and Mollie (Dimmitt) Rhea.

She retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier working out of the Freeport Post Office. She was a member of the Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church and for many years attended the Union First Presbyterian Church in Cowansville. She was very active in the Kaylor Grange and helped establish the Sugarcreek Township Park.

Her baking won many cooking awards and she prepared many wedding cakes over the years.

On the day of her death, a double rainbow was spotted over Dott’s house, signifying to her family that she was safely home with God.

Survivors include a brother, John (Betty) Rhea of Newnan, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Sara Bauman of Baltimore; a brother-in-law, Bernard “Ben” Hetrick of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Nunamaker; her parents; and a sister, Claire Hetrick.

NUNAMAKER — Friends and family of Dorothy “Dott” E. Nunamaker, who died Monday, May 14, 2012, will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at noon Saturday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville. The Rev. Mary Marks King will officiate.

Interment will be in the Slate Lick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Union First Presbyterian Church in Cowansville or to the Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church.
