SLIPPERY ROCK — The 2012 Slippery Rock University football schedule ranks second toughest among the 46 NCAA Division II Super Region One schools.

Rock opponents had a composite 71-50 won-loss record last season, a .587 winning percentage. Millersville's opponents had a .589 winning percentage.

SRU's three-game PSAC East cross-over foes — Bloomsburg, Kutztown and Shippensburg — were 27-8 last season.

The Rock has 14 starters returning from last year's 8-3 team that was co-PSAC West champions.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock Sliders hurler Luis Flores has been named Prospect League Pitcher of the Week.Flores was 2-0 in two starts last week, allowing two earned runs in 12 innings, striking out 14. He is a junior from Texas Pan American University.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse players Amy Halls and Casey Quinn have been selected to play in the IWLCA Division II North/South Senior All-Star Game Saturday in Downingtown.Halls had 46 goals and 19 assists this season and is SRU's all-time goal-scoring leader with 215. Quinn had 36 goals and seven assists this year and was voted team MVP by her teammates for the fourth straight year.
