Alice R. Schroth, 83, of Old Route 422, Fenelton, died unexpectedly at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Schroth was born in Butler on March 16, 1929. She was the daughter of Norman and Agnes Moniot Oesterling.

She was a longtime active member of the Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville where she served as a Eucharistic minister and took communion to shut-ins for many years. Alice also helped with the church funeral dinners.

She enjoyed crafts, traveling and her involvement in church. She was a 1948 graduate of Butler High School and had been employed for a number of years at the A.E. Troutman Co.

She is survived by her husband, Robert F. Schroth, who she was married to for 55 years.

Also surviving are three children, Kenneth P. Schroth and his wife, Carol, Kathleen S. Raible and her husband, Ernest Michael, and Traci M. Haid and her husband, Edward, all of Fenelton; eight grandchildren, Courtney and Crystal Schroth, Trevor, Aaron, Zachery and Mackenzie Raible and Amber and Colton Haid, all of Fenelton; two great- grandchildren, Jaedyn and Elijah Raible of Kittanning; three sisters, Dorothy A. Clouse of Chicora, Mary N. “Nim” Ritzert of Chicora and Beverly A. Snyder and her husband, Carl, of Butler; and two sisters in-law, Betty Oesterling of Warner Robins, Ga., and Martha Oesterling of Butler. She also is survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alice was preceded in death by four brothers, Norman Jr., Kenny, Paul and Albert Oesterling.

<B>SCHROTH</B> — Friends of Alice R. Schroth, who died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, will be received at the <B>Hile Funeral Home of Chicora</B>, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 668 Clearfield Road, Fenelton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Memorial contributions in Mrs. Schroth’s memory may be made to the Butler VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001, or to the Blind Association of Butler, 322 N.
