George T. Ferrari Sr.
George T. Ferrari Sr., 78, of Butler passed away Monday at VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born in Butler on April 21, 1934, son of the late Basil “George” and Alice Gregory Ferrari.
George was a former vice president of human resources at Moonlight Mushroom Mine for 20 years. He also was employed as a mediator for Pennsylvania for 10 years, retiring in 2002.
He was one of the founders of the VNA and the VNA Hospice in Butler and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Thompson Ferrari, to whom he was married for 51 years; two sons, Jack T. Ferrari and his wife, Betsy, of Butler and George T. Ferrari Jr. and his wife, Kelly, of Butler; one daughter, Dianna L. Ferrari of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren, Ryan McCommon, Amy Ferrari, J.T. Ferrari, Wade Ferrari, Bethany Ferrari and Grant Ferrari, all of Butler; and four great-grandchildren, Faith Campsey of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ethan McCommon, Adam McCommon and Kaylee Lewis, all of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Erin McCommon; and one sister, Joy Rice.
