INDIANA, Pa. — Authorities say a Western Pennsylvania shooting death over the weekend apparently stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Indiana County Coroner Michael Baker says 55-year-old Richard Shotts of Rural Valley was shot in the neck just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene in North Mahoning Township at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

Baker said the victim was trying to intervene in a domestic dispute at his daughter’s home.

Baker said the suspect in the shooting was wounded and was released to state police after treatment at Punxsutawney Hospital.

Man charged with killing wife, daughtersINDIANA, Pa. — A Western Pennsylvania man is charged with killing his two young daughters and his estranged wife.Police say Lewis Beatty cut the throats of 6-year-old daughter Sara and 11-year-old daughter Amanda in his South Mahoning Township home before setting it on fire Friday night.Authorities say Beatty also killed his 33-year-old estranged wife, Christine, at her home 10 miles away in East Mahoning and set her mobile home on fire.

Stepson pleads in death over flowersUNIONTOWN — A Western Pennsylvania has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for killing his stepfather during an altercation over flowers placed on the grave of the defendant’s mother.Fayette County Judge Gerald Solomon did not immediately schedule a sentencing date for 51-year-old Scott Rodeheaver of Jefferson.A newspaper reports Rodeheaver pleaded guilty on Friday.Authorities say the defendant twice punched 69-year-old Charles Rodeheaver of Uniontown, who died at a hospital days after being knocked to the ground at a diner across the street from the grave in December 2010.Authorities say the defendant was upset that his stepfather had removed flowers that he had put on the grave.
