PITTSBURGH — A judge froze the campaign and pension funds of former state Sen. Jane Orie until he decides how much restitution she should pay.

Judge Jeffrey Manning froze the funds Thursday.

Orie’s attorney had argued that the state shouldn’t be able to seize about $90,000 in her pension fund and another $100,000 in leftover campaign funds to satisfy restitution in her corruption case.

Orie faces sentencing Monday on 14 counts including theft, conflict of interest and forgery for using her state-funded staff to do political work on her behalf. Manning says he’ll listen to arguments then about how much restitution Orie owes.

The 40th District, which Orie represented, includes southern Butler County.
