CALIFORNIA, Pa. — The former president of California University of Pennsylvania said state officials have agreed to pay him six month severance pay.

The State System of Higher Education Board of Governors fired Angelo Armenti Jr. on May 16.

On Tuesday, Armenti said there's still a dispute over whether he'll be paid for the two years remaining on his contract, and whether his health care coverage will be restored.

Some university officials said the firing was wrong and poorly handled. State officials said an audit shows the school improperly diverted nearly $6 million to a related nonprofit and had other financial problems under Armenti's 20-year tenure.

NEW CASTLE — Police, federal agents and hazardous materials crews have been at a Western Pennsylvania home suspected of housing a methamphetamine lab.Nobody has been identified or charged as suspects, but authorities say they’re questioning two people they found at the home in New Castle. That’s about 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.Police were first called to the home late Monday, and crews remained there through noon Tuesday removing what they say are dangerous chemicals used to make the powerful stimulant.Federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents are also investigating.
