Montero inks deal to stay with D-backs
PHOENIX — The possibility of losing Miguel Montero to free agency and the lack of an alternative that would bring in anyone of comparable ability led the Arizona Diamondbacks to agree to pay the catcher $60 million from 2013-17s.
Montero signed the contract on Saturday and said at a news conference that he never wanted to leave the organization that he has been a part of since agreeing to a $13,000 deal 11 years ago.
