Last year's Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival drew thousands of enthusiasts to Butler. This year's event is scheduled for Aug. 10 to 12 in Butler and the Big Butler Fairgrounds. A pig roast and Jeep Team Challenge have been added this year.

The second Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival is slated for Aug. 10-12 in Butler and at the Big Butler Fairgrounds in Franklin Township.

This year, the festival will begin Friday afternoon with the Jeep Invasion of Downtown Butler.

Owners of Jeeps will park on Main Street and side streets to allow visitors to see the expected hundreds of vehicles. Owners and others will have a chance to meet-and-greet, eat and shop in the business district.

Festivities move Saturday to the fairgrounds where there will be a Mystery Road Rally, contests, driving challenges and skill lessons.

Exhibitors and businesses will make up a large market area at the fairgrounds, while activities for young and old alike will take place.

Jack Cohen, the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau executive director, pointed out two new events: The Saturday night pig roast and the Jeep Team Challenge.

He expects more than 500 people for the pig roast at the fairgrounds, which will include music from local bands, a corn hole tournament and volleyball.

The Jeep Team Challenge, Cohen explained, is an event where four team members are in a Jeep on an obstacles course.

“The driver will be blindfolded and the other three members of the team must help the driver maneuver through the course verbally,” he said.

That event will be at the grandstand so spectators can watch the craziness.
