Daniel F. “Buck” McDeavitt Jr., 88, of Smith Road, West Liberty, died Thursday evening of natural causes at his home.

He was the son of Daniel F. McDeavitt Sr. and Annie Smith.

He married Mildred Twentier on Aug. 10, 1955. She died April 27, 2008.

Buck had been a welder for Pullman Standard in Butler before retiring, and had been a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.

He is survived by one son, Daniel F. McDeavitt III and his wife, Terri, of Slippery Rock; one stepdaughter, Betty G. Kreutz and her husband, Raymond “Pooch,” of Slippery Rock; one stepson, Charles L. “Chuck” Wolford and his wife, Kay, of Slippery Rock; one brother, John D. McDeavitt and his wife, Linda, of Slippery Rock; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and several bothers and sisters.

<B>MCDEAVITT</B> — Visitation for Daniel F. “Buck” McDeavitt Jr., who died Thursday, April 12, 2012, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle Road, Slippery Rock.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Lewis of the West Liberty United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in West Liberty Cemetery, West Liberty.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Liberty United Methodist Church, 135 Church Road, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
