Vance V. 'Chub' Snyder
Vance V. “Chub” Snyder, 83, of Ridgeville passed away at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday at the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice following a short illness.
He was born Oct. 24, 1928, in Mayburg, Forest County. He was the son of the late Andy H. Snyder and the late Valjean Mauk Snyder.
He was a 1946 graduate of Concord High School and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He retired from the Riggers Department at Armco Steel, now AK Steel, in 1986. He was a member of the Ridgeville Methodist Church, the Parker Lodge F&AM 521 and the New Castle Consistory. He was Top Gun of the Slippery Rock Sportsman Butler County Trap League in 1964, 1965, 1967 and 1968. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed his camp along Tionesta Creek in Forest County. He found great joy in his family.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Stevens Snyder, who he married April 27, 1950; two sons, David V. Snyder of Karns City and Kevin C. Snyder of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Lenore Seifer, Jessica Snyder, Luke Snyder and Michael Snyder; and two great-grandchildren, Paul and John Seifer. Two sisters, Imogene Murrin of Butler and Betty Hyduke of Edison, N.J., also survive.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Katelyn Snyder, and his brother, Franklin Snyder.
<B>SNYDER</B> — Friends of Vance V. “Chub” Snyder, who passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, will be received at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with his nephew-in-law, the Rev. Norman Webber of Tennessee, officiating.Burial will be in the Rosewood Cemetery.Masonic services by the Parker City-Allegheny Lodge F&AM 521 will be at 6:45 p.m. Friday.
