Karolyn J. “Kaye” Stewart, 74, of Butler, formerly of New York, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 25, 1937, in Butler County, the daughter of the late Basil Reed and Gladys (Smith) Stewart.

Kaye was a graduate of King's College in New York. She received her bachelor's degree from Columbia University and her master's degree from City University of New York. She taught nursing and worked in several hospitals in New York.

Surviving are her sister, Raylene (Thomas) Jindra of Butler; two brothers, Stanley T. (Violet) Stewart of North Washington and Raymond C. (Patricia) Stewart of Grove City; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Raymond G. Burk.
