John Daugherty

John Andrew Daugherty, 66, formerly of New Castle, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday at Clarview Nursing Home following an extended illness.

He was born in Oil City, on Sept. 16, 1945, the son of John and Geraldine (Dowlan) Daugherty.

John was a lifetime resident of Western Pennsylvania and was a welder with Pittsburgh Gearworks until his retirement in 2010.

His hobbies included tinkering and fixing a number of objects and also watching western movies, especially those featuring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. In his free time, John loved to be outdoors either riding motorcycles or fishing with his grandson, Kaleb. He cherished the time spent with all of his grandchildren, and his family and friends will always remember his loving and caring spirit.

His memory will be carried on with love by his son, John Daugherty Jr. and his wife, Isela, of Wylie, Texas; his daughter, Tracy Jacobs and her husband, Bob, of Rimersburg; grandchildren, Kaleb and Shayla Jacobs of Rimersburg and Allissa Pullion, of Poland, Ohio; brother, Dennis Daugherty and his wife, Kathy, of Oil City; and many special friends, especially Cliff and Becky Mainwaring.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
