TOWN CRIER

Slippery Rock Borough council on Tuesday:

• Heard from Dave Taggart, chief of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company, who said that the company is looking for new members. During many calls, the company has to have other departments respond because of a lack of available members.

• Announced that bulk trash pickup in the borough will be May 18.

• Approved Pave Care of Grove City for street sweeping, starting May 7 and not to exceed 40 hours of work, for $3,800.

• Approved giving Sonya Lenz, a borough resident and business owner, permission to place three concrete planters in a borough-owned alley adjacent to her business. Lenz will decorate the planters and plant flowers in them.

• Approved a request from Slippery Rock University to hang a congratulation banner across South Main Street from May 10 to May 14.
