Police search for robbery suspect

ADAMS TWP — Police continue to seek a robber who made off with a bag of prescription drugs last week from the CVS pharmacy on Route 228.

Township police have surveillance video and photographs that provide a clear image of the man, but haven’t been able to identify him.

The robber about 4 p.m. Thursday walked into the drugstore, Chief Bill Westerman said Saturday morning.

There were other customers and three employees there when the man entered wearing glasses, a ball cap, orange hooded sweat shirt and white shorts.

He ordered the pharmacist to give him high-strength painkillers.

“He got a lot of OxyContin,” Westerman said. “He asked for them, that’s all.”

The suspect showed no weapon but claimed he had a gun.

Before he left the store, police said, the robber warned employees not to call police for 20 minutes

“He said if he heard sirens he would come back and kill them,” Westerman said.

The employees waited about 20 minutes, then called authorities.

The Jackson Township police K-9 dog assisted in the search and tracked the suspect’s scent for about one-quarter mile into Mars, Westerman said.

Investigators notified nearby police departments.

Anyone with information about the robber’s identify is asked to call 911 or Adams Township police at 625-2040.
