Neighbor helps to stop fire in Cranberry house
CRANBERRY TWP — Neighbor helping neighbor probably saved a home from going up in flames Thursday morning in the Pinehurst housing development.
The fire broke out at 10:06 a.m. in a stove in the kitchen at a house at 110 Pinehurst Dr.
Chief Brian Kovac of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company said the homeowner was home when fire started and was aided by a neighbor, who got a fire extinguisher.
The fire was almost out by the time firefighters arrived, he said.
The damage was contained to the kitchen. Kovac estimated the damage at $4,000 to $5,000.
Crews from Cranberry, Zelienople and Callery departments assisted at the scene.
