BUTLER TWP — A power outage this morning is affecting 628 customers in the township, including several stores in the Butler Commons shopping area.

Rob Lombardo, area manager for West Penn Power, said the outage occurred at the Krendale substation on Lions Road. The cause is under investigation and crews are on scene.

Traffic lights are out at three intersections: New Castle Road and Duffy Road, New Castle Road and Evans City Road, and Duffy Road and Seneca Road. Township police are directing traffic at the intersections.
