Man arrested, accused of firing AK-47 outside his mobile home
BUFFALO TWP — A 49-year-old man was arrested early this morning after he allegedly fired several shots from his AK-47 rifle outside a trailer park where he lives.
Township police said Kevin C. Vantine told officers that he fired the semi-automatic rifle because he believed he had seen someone in back of his trailer at Jack's Mobile Home Park off Route 356.
No one was hurt, but police in charging documents noted the proximity of several other trailers and Route 356 traffic from where the shots were fired about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Vantine was placed in the Butler County Prison on misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He remains jailed on $5,000 bail.
State police and Freeport police assisted Buffalo Township officers.
Police tried calling Vantine's cell phone several times but he would not answer, documents said. Eventually, they spoke to him at 12:45 a.m. today. Soon after, he surrendered to authorities.
