Lewis Ray Peoples

Lewis Ray Peoples, 66, of Slippery Rock passed away Sunday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness.

Born on Nov. 3, 1945, in Butler, he was son of the late James A. and Martha Grace Logue Peoples.

Lewis was a Catholic.

He served with the U.S. Army for nearly five years during the Vietnam War with three tours in Vietnam. Among the 10 awards he earned were the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, and the Vietnam Service with Silver Star. He was honorably discharged with the rank of SP/4 in 1974.

Surviving are his sister, Joan (Joel) Hazlett of Hilliards; three brothers, James Peoples of Butler, Alan Peoples of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jerry Peoples of Slippery Rock; and several nieces and nephews.

<B>PEOPLES</B> — Visitation for Lewis Ray Peoples, who passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at <B>Buzard Funeral Home</B> in Eau Claire with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
