Oliver G. Black
Oliver G. Black, 93, of Cabot passed away Friday at Allegheny Valley Hospital.
Born July 31, 1918, in West Deer Township, he was the son of Archibald and Mary M. (Kelly) Black.
He was retired from Allegheny Ludlum as a crane operator. He also worked as a school bus driver and as a temporary mail carrier. Oliver was a lifetime member of the Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church and the Jefferson Grange. He was a gardener and farmer. Oliver had a large chicken farm and was a good neighbor and friend to all.
Surviving are his sons, Oliver G. (Linda) Black of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Leroy H. Black (Kathy Yingling) of Cabot, and his daughter, Sandra L. Black of Cabot.
He also is survived by three grandchildren, Lisa, Larry and Jessica; two great-grandchildren, Corey and Jet; and two siblings, Agnes Smith of Oceanside, Calif., and John (Janet) Black of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth E. (Dillner) Black, who passed away on Feb. 26, 2012; a son, David Black; and seven sisters, Lucille McAdams, Margaret Marsella, Betty Gent, Mary Alice Tishey, Carolyn Widenhofer, Lois Hodil and Elma Zang; and one brother, Archie Black.
<B>BLACK</B> — Friends of Oliver G. Black, who passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>FOX FUNERAL HOME, INC.,</B> 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. A service follows at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James Steiner officiating.
