The Butler County Symphony Orchestra presents the final concert of its 63rd season at 7:30 p.m. April 14 at the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

The theme for this season is “A Night of …” and this concert will focus on “A Night of Remembrance.”

The featured guest artist is saxophonist Aaron Patterson, who was the symphony association’s Young Artist winner in 2002.

Guest conductor will be Matthew Kraemer, one of three guest conductors this season up for the job of permanent conductor and music director.

Also, the symphony is participating in the American Orchestra League’s Orchestras Feeding America. Donations will be accepted at the concert and at the symphony office from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. The collected food will go to the Covenant Cupboard.

Community band performsHARRISVILLE — The Harrisville Community Band will perform its annual spring concert at 7 p.m. April 20 at the Harrisville Fire Hall. The band will play a variety of songs, including “Cold Brook March,” “A Crooner’s Serenade,” “Vaudeville Favorites,” “Wizard of Oz Highlights” and “A Hymn Tune Trilogy.”Becky Sopher, a Harrisville native and elementary music teacher at Moraine Elementary School, will direct the band.Admission is free. The volunteer firemen will have refreshments for sale.

Comedy, meal raises fundsPROSPECT — The Portersville-Prospect Rotary Club will host an Oxymorons Dinner-Comedy night at 5:30 p.m. April 27 at the Atrium.The fundraising evening includes dinner, show, music and dancing.Tickets are $35 and must be purchased by April 17. Branson show comes to Zelie ZELIENOPLE — Costumes, comedy and country, bluegrass, rockabilly and gospel music will be part of the Branson on the Road show coming May 24 and 25 to the Strand Theater, 119 N. Main St.The show reflects the tradition of the traveling road shows of the glory days of the Grand Ole Opry, the Louisiana Hayride and the first Branson music shows.Performing will be Debbie Horton, who holds the distinction of being the only woman to have played lead guitar for the Johnny Cash. She hosted her own show at the old Boxcar Willie Theater in Branson and has performed on the Louisiana Hayride and Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree in Nashville.Playing as well will be Donnie Wright, a musician and arranger who is versatile on many instruments including fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo and bass.Also performing will be Brian Capps, who plays upright bass and sings songs reminiscent of Marty Robbins and Hank Williams.The show begins at 7:30 p.m. both days. Birding events plannedFOXBURG — The Seneca Rocks Audubon Society along with Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts and Foxburg Inn will host the Foxburg Birdfest on May 5 and 6.On May 5, there will be an 8 a.m. birding tour and lunch at RiverStone Estate at a cost of $20, a 5 p.m. buffet dinner at the Allegheny Grille followed by educational presentations at a cost of about $26.40, and an 8 p.m. Owl Prowl at RiverStone at a cost of $5.On May 6, there will be a birding tour at Mount Zion/Piney Tract Important Bird Area near Sligo.
