Beverly Benz Hogan, 75, of Butler passed away Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit in Cabot.

She was born July 26, 1936, in East Chicago, Ind., to the late Carl Benz and Wilma Fowler Benz.

Mrs. Hogan was a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School. She earned her bachelor of nursing degree from the University of Pittsburgh and her masters in nursing at Indiana (Pa.) University. She worked as the assistant professor of nursing at the Butler County Community College, was a Lamaze instructor, an OB nurse and a doula birthing attendant.

Mrs. Hogan was a member of the Christ’s Outreach Church where she was a member of the board of directors and the president of the mission council. She was a very warm and social lady who enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Hogan is survived by her husband, Richard Hogan, who she married Dec. 27, 1958; one son, William Hogan and his wife, Sharon, of Little Rock, Ark.; three daughters, Nanci (Graham) Fawcett of Luton, England, Judi Bookhamer and her husband, Michael, of Clearfield and Kathi Moore and her husband, Kevin, of Butler; seven grandchildren, Jacqui Moore, Becki McLean, Corey Bookhamer, Ian Bookhamer, Keegan Hogan, Kaylin Hogan and Samuel Fawcett; one great-grandchild, Kole McLean; two brothers, William Benz and his wife, Sharon, and Robert Benz; one sister, Karen Barnes; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, David Barnes.

HOGAN — Friends of Beverly Benz Hogan, who died Thursday, March 1, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the

Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Christ’s Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Gary A. Koontz officiating. Burial will take place in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville, Pa.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Mission Program at Christ’s Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
