Patricia R. Sandbach, 84, beloved wife of Edward Sandbach for 65 years, died peacefully on Feb. 23 at Fraser Health Center, Hilton Head Island, S.C., after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

She is survived by three children, Kristine Brubaker and her husband, Brett, of Canon City, Colo., Karen O'Neal and her husband, Craig, of Simpsonville, S.C., and David Sandbach of Mineral, Va. She also is survived by nine grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.

Patricia was born in Paducah, Ky., and moved to Butler after the great Ohio River Flood of 1937. She graduated from Butler High School, where she met her future husband. The couple was married in 1946.

Patricia worked in the accounting department of the Koppers Co. in Pittsburgh while her husband studied at the University of Pittsburgh. They moved to Canton, Ohio, in 1949 and returned to Pittsburgh in 1952, where she was a mother, homemaker and school secretary. In 1983 the couple retired to Hilton Head Island.

Patricia accepted Jesus as her Savior as a young girl and her whole life was involved in her church and family. She loved to play the piano and was a church pianist in Butler for more than 20 years. She was also active in Sunday school, vacation Bible school and summer youth camp.

Upon moving to Hilton Head Island, she became active in the music ministry of the First Baptist Church of Hilton Head Island.
