D. Jacquelyn 'Jacque' McClay Graham
D. Jacquelyn “Jacque” McClay Graham of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Butler and Kittanning, passed away Saturday.
Born Feb. 15, 1926, in Kittanning, Jacque was the loving wife of Robert G. Graham and the daughter of William Nelson McClay and Sadie Bowser McClay.
Graduating from Kittanning High School, she was the private secretary to Robert Crane of Eljer Pottery in Ford City. She was a registered nurse who graduated from Ohio Institute and affiliated with Crile Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. She was also a nurse for a surgeon in Champaign-Urbana, Ill. In addition, she worked at Kittanning Hospital, now ACMH Hospital.
After moving to Butler, she was a secretary at Martin Pharmacy and for H.I. Murray Photography.
Jacque was active in the Butler County Heart Association, the Newcomers Club and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Butler and Saxonburg Women's Clubs. Jacque was an avid bridge player and golfer; she was a member of Lake Arthur Country Club Ladies League, and she and her husband were frequent participants in the Stoughton Acres Friday Couples League. After moving to Florida, Jacque and her husband lived at the Sandpiper Golf and Country Club. She was active in the Lakeland Women's Club as second vice president and in many bridge clubs.
Jacque belonged to the Maqueda Chapter of Eastern Star. She was a past matron of Amaranth and White Shrine. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Butler and the Faith Lutheran Church in Lakeland, Fla.
In addition to her husband, Bob, Jacque is survived by her daughter, Sally Kim Arner of California; her son, Roger B. Arner and his wife, Faith Arner, of New York City; and her granddaughter, Caitlin Arner and her grandson, Geoffrey W. Arner, both of Boston.
She was predeceased by her son, Anthony Gerald “Tony” Graham; her sister, June McClay; and her parents.
