JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley senior Megan Buletko was selected to play first base for the 2012 USA Cup fastpitch softball team during the International Fastpitch Tournament in the Netherlands recently.
After two days of play, Buletko's team wound up in the winner's bracket and finished eighth overall.
Buletko plans to attend Edinboro University to study Early Childhood Special Education and continue her softball career.
LEISENRING — Paul Maust amassed six goals and one assist to power the Knoch freshman hockey team to a 7-5 victory over Canon-McMillan Gold in capturing the PIHL title Tuesday at the Ice Mine.Harrison Brown also scored and added an assist while Sevryn Napora and Kane Albert chipped in with assists for the Knights, who outscored the Big Macs 3-1 in the final period.
BUTLER TWP — The 22nd Butler Sixth Grade Volleyball Tournament took place recently in the high school gym with teams from all 11 elementary schools participating.More than 300 sixth-grade students took part as 178 games were played over two nights.Center Township had the first- and second-place teams, McQuistion the third- and fourth-place squads. JEFFERSON TWP —Knoch softball player Britni Brandstetter was recently selected to the 16-under Queen of Diamonds Softball Showcase at Kent State University.Brandstetter was one of 250 girls selected from more than 2,500 applicants. She plays for Team All American out of Trafford.
SPRINGBORO, Ohio — Brett Rinker of Slippery Rock captured first place in the boys 14-19 age division with a two-round score of 146 at Heatherwoode Golf Club as part of the Plantation Junior Golf Tour events last weekend.From staff reports
