FOREST HILLS — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh say 14 parishes will form two consortiums, each of which will support a regional school for students in grades K-8.

Schools at Good Shepherd parish in Braddock and Word of God in Swissvale will close as those parishes will join four others in supporting what will be called East Catholic. The school will be located at the site of St. Maurice School in Forest Hills, whose parish is one of the six supporting the combined school which expects to enroll up to 400 students next year.

Eight other parishes are joining a second consortium to create a school projected to have about 300 students at St. Angela Merici in White Oak. The St. Joseph Regional School in McKeesport will also be merged into the new, combined St. Angela Merici school.
