Nonni puts her all into everything she makes at her restaurant, Nonni’s Corner Trattoria in Grove City.

Whether it’s her signature tomato sauce and tender meatballs or her phenomenal chicken cacciatore, she prepares everything as though her grandchildren were eating every bite. It’s not uncommon for her guests to shed a reminiscent tear from tasting something so wonderful as their own grandmother used to make. Having learned from the skillful hands of her Sicilian born grandmother, she brings generations of recipes to life. As a native of Clearfield, Pa., Nonni (Helena Valenza) spent years managing her father’s Italian restaurant, a town landmark for nearly 50 years.

Likewise, her daughter, Camille Valenza-Hazelton, and son, David Valenza, enjoyed the benefits of growing up in the restaurant and a rich Sicilian heritage.

As sous chef, Camille brings delectable desserts and special entrees to the table. Citrusy lemon squares, Italian almond cream cake and locally made gelatos are some scrumptious desserts you’ll find there. Their espressos and rich cappuccinos are a natural compliment.

Camille, along with her husband, Andrew, and two boys claim Grove City as their home for more than 12 years.

David proudly serves as the owner and general manager. Collectively, they worked toward establishing their own restaurant after years of saving and planning. Now that he, his wife, and two children are in Grove City, he explains that having all the families together in such a beautiful town is a wonderful blessing.

Nonni’s elegant atmosphere makes it a great choice for the many rehearsal dinners, parties, meetings and celebrations held there. Live weekend entertainment has established Nonni’s as an intimate venue for the area’s soft jazz, standard and Italian ballad, and soft pop musicians. It’s one of the few locations where it’s common to hear a strolling mandolinista strumming the classic Italian melodies.
