SRU routs LHU, 20-2, settles for split on day
Slippery Rock University baseball pitcher Lou Trivino limited Lock Haven to two runs (one earned) on two hits in a complete-game effort as The Rock crushed visiting Lock Haven 20-2 in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader.
Trivino fanned nine and walked just one while receiving more than enough offensive support.
SRU’s 16-hit attack featured three hits, two runs scored and one batted in from outfielder Graeme Zaparzynski.
SRU scored at least one run in every frame, including eight in the fifth inning.
However, The Rock was unable to carry its momentum into Game Two, as the Bald Eagles scored all of their runs in the top of the eighth inning in a 4-0 victory.
Rock starting pitcher Anton Constantino pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing eight hits and striking out three.
Reliever John Kovalik was charged with all four of Lock Haven’s tallies.
Brandon Myers and Matt Curtis both had two hits for SRU (10-16-1, 3-5).
Women’s Lacrosse
SRU fell behind 7-0 in the first half and went on to suffer a 14-4 loss to visiting West Chester.
Morgan Pettit, Sarah Gonsiewski, Paige Costantino and Lydia Heishman each scored a goal for The Rock (2-3, 0-3).
