Bertha Abramovic Marsicano
Bertha Abramovic Marsicano died peacefully at Avante Nursing Center on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
She was born Bertha Margarthe Terkelsen in Salinas, Calif., to the late Nickolaj and Christina Terkelsen. She was a beloved only child and had fond memories of exploring and playing on the golf course that her father, Nick, and her mother, Christina, managed.
She met her first husband, John “Brooms” Abramovic, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. They married and relocated to Pennsylvania where she raised her two children, John and Wendy, in the idyllic small town of Mars. There she enjoyed her role as a homemaker and her circle of friends.
When her children were grown, she moved to Florida and enjoyed the remainder of her years living in a home close to the ocean and finally in an oceanfront condominium. She and her husband Ron Marsicano enjoyed their retirement years playing cards and traveling to Biloxi, Miss.
Bertha is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald; her daughter, Wendy (Gilbert) Summers of Ormond Beach, Fla.; her son, John (Cindy) Abramovic of Ormond Beach; and three grandchildren, Andrew Ehrman of Ormond Beach, Christie Abramovic of Washington, D.C., and Jonathan Abramovic of Beijing, China.
