Hugh Ellis Curry
Hugh Ellis Curry, 86, of Butler passed away on Sunday surrounded by his loving friends and family at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Butler to the late Howard Curry and Bessie McCormick Curry.
Mr. Curry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a welder at Pullman Standard for 35 years.
He attended the Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 778 Lyndora and a volunteer driver for VA Butler Healthcare for 11 years.
Hugh was an avid camper and gardener, enjoying the great outdoors. Above all, his greatest pleasure was spending time and laughter with family and friends. This devoted husband, incredible father and real life superhero to all of his grandchildren will be greatly missed.
Mr. Curry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores Hepler Curry; his three children, Richard Curry and his wife, Rosemary, of Butler, Linda Shipkowski and her husband, Frank, of Mechanicsburg and Cindy Lonsinger and her husband, Darryl, of Lynden, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one cousin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
