GETTYSBURG — Bobblehead dolls that depict the man who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln are no longer for sale in Gettysburg National Military Park’s visitors’ center.

Officials said Tuesday the dolls of John Wilkes Booth were taken off bookstore shelves Saturday, a day after a reporter for The Evening Sun of Hanover asked about them.

Gettysburg Foundation spokeswoman Dru Anne Neil says the dolls showing Booth with a handgun were only available for about a week before the park superintendent, the foundation president and bookstore manager decided they shouldn’t be for sale.

The Kansas City, Mo.-based manufacturer says the Booth dolls are a top seller, and more are being produced.

Confederate sympathizer Booth killed Lincoln at Ford’s Theater in Washington in April 1865.
