County commissioners today approved an impact fee for natural gas drilling.

Drillers will be assessed from $45,000 to $60,000 per well depending on the price per cubic feet of natural gas.

Of that money, the county controller’s office estimates the county would receive $1 million directly from the state, with an additional $500,000 coming through state projects such as infrastructure improvements

Another $2 million would be distributed among the county’s municipalities.
