Seneca foundation to raise money for district
JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley School District has set up a new private, tax-exempt foundation to raise money and to help take some tax burden off district residents.
The Seneca Valley Foundation will raise money through donations that will be used for capital projects, classroom programs and student scholarships. The foundation’s motto will be: “Gift of Hope, Promise of Excellence.”
This is one of four new revenue streams that have been identified by the district’s executive committee. They were unveiled Monday night during a presentation to the school board by Linda Andreassi, district director of communications.
The foundation already has received its first $15,000 commitment from the Cranberry Township Noon Rotary Club. The club plans contribute $5,000 per year for the next three years, with the possibility to continue those donations beyond that time.
Superintendent Tracy Vital said the foundation also has received contributions from several anonymous donors.
The foundation will have a kickoff fundraising event from 8 to 10 p.m. April 13 with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at Heinz Hall.
A reception will follow the performance. Tickets will be $30, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the foundation.
Ticket and event information will be on the district’s website this week.
