Artis “Artie” T. Johnson, 60, of Butler passed away Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 25, 1951, in Wheeling, W.Va., the son of Doris (White) Henderson of Butler and the late Artis T. Johnson Sr.

Artie was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He retired from A.K. Steel after 30 years.

Surviving are his wife, Marti D. (Glover) Johnson, who he married July 7, 1978; his mother, Doris Henderson and his stepfather, Charles Henderson, of Butler; a daughter, Malia Johnson at home; a son, Leyland Johnson of Butler; a sister, Terri Johnson of Washington D.C.; and two stepbrothers, Timothy Henderson of Ohio and Charles Henderson of Butler.
