Shooting suspect arrested in Pgh.
PITTSBURGH — The gunman believed responsible for a Feb. 23 shooting in Butler’s West End was arrested at about 11 p.m. Thursday.
Robert J. Prater, 21, whose last known address was in Wilkinsburg, is being held in Allegheny County Prison.
Butler police allege that Prater fired four shots from a .40-caliber pistol shortly before 6 p.m. on Feb. 23 in an apartment on West North Street.
James T. Matuke Jr. 46, was struck with one bullet, which passed through his left arm and struck him in the torso, and was taken to Allegheny General Hospital.
The bullet struck his spleen and kidney.
Two other men who were with Prater at the apartment managed to escape unharmed, police said.
Investigators believe the shooting was drug-related.
Prater is charged with attempted homicide, three counts each of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, and carrying a firearm without a permit.
