SRU teams swept on home court
Gannon used an 18-3 run in the second half to keep Slippery Rock at bay as the Knights grabbed an 80-73 men’s basketball victory at Morrow Field House Wednesday night.
The Rock (16-9, 13-8) was led by freshman Chaquille Pratt’s 19 points.
Junior John Bayardelle contributed 12 points for SRU and Aubin Reeves had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Gannon (14-11, 12-9) won the battle for the boards, 37-31. It marks just the fourth time SRU has been outrebounded this season.
The loss was The Rock’s second in a row, dropping it into a third-place tie with California in the PSAC West standings.
SRU can still clinch a spot in the PSAC Tournament for the second consecutive season with a win at home Saturday against Clarion (15-12, 11-10) in the regular season finale.
Women’s BasketballSRU dropped its 11th consecutive game, losing 75-59 to Gannon.Jasmine Cooper paced The Rock (5-20, 2-19) with 20 points and added six rebounds.Paris Thomas scored 14 points and Danielle Smith chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.Both SRU teams will host Clarion Saturday.
