John D. Magilson Sr., 52, of Chicora, died Monday at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born June 20, 1959, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Theresa (Kmieciak) Magilson and the late Howard Magilson.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, enjoyed boating and fishing, and had lived in Pittsburgh and also San Diego, Calif., before moving to Butler in 2000.

Surviving are his wife, Beth (Kamphaus) Magilson, who he married Sept. 17, 1997, in Pittsburgh. He also is survived by his mother, Theresa Magilson of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Mary Stone of Pittsburgh and Theresa McKnight of Munhall, Pa.; two sons, John Magilson Jr. of Florida and Corey Magilson of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Jessica Paul and Lisa Magilson, both of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by his, father Howard Magilson and a sister, Elizabeth McKnight.
