Schaffner

Evelyn Martin Schaffner, 85, of Davenport, Fla., formerly of Butler, passed away on Jan. 8 at Winter Haven Hospital.

Mrs. Schaffner was born Aug. 9, 1926, in Butler. She moved to Lakeland, Fla., in 1984 and lived there for 18 years. She moved to Davenport in 2002.

Mrs. Schaffner retired from Bell Telephone in Butler after working as a telephone operator for many years. She and her first husband, Edward Martin, owned Martin's Inn on Monroe Street in Butler.

Mrs. Schaffner was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward U. Martin and Jacob A. Schaffner.

She is survived by her daughters, Edna Prall of Danville, Ky., and Joanne Jackson of Davenport, Fla; a son, Fred Martin of Butler; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
