Marie D. Horan
Marie D. Horan, 90, of Butler died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Butler on Oct. 6, 1921, a daughter of William and Marcella Eichenlaub Beneigh.
Marie was a homemaker, and she had worked as a bookkeeper at the Troutman's Department Store and the Reliable Furniture Store in Butler.
An active member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, she was a longtime member of the Women's Council and until recently had served as the sacristan for more than 30 years. She was also a very devoted volunteer at Butler Memorial Hospital for many years.
She was the widow of James E. Horan, a former Butler councilman and mayor of Butler. They married June 7, 1973, and he died April 13, 1995. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are five children and their spouses, William F. Wood (Irene) of Butler, Mark E. Horan (Betty) of Longboat Key, Fla., Carol Klann (Eric) and Joyce Steele (Russell), both of Butler, and Helen Lesko (Joseph) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren,
<B>HORAN</B> — A Mass of Christian burial for Marie D. Horan, who died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. Former pastors, the Revs. Pierre Falkenhan and Jack Nanz, will officiate. Interment will be at the St. Peter Parish Family Cemetery, Butler. There will not be a public visitation.The St. Peter's Women's Council will recite the rosary at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday in the church.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to either the Lifeline of Southwest PA, 422 N.
