FRANKLIN — A man is jailed on charges he drove his car with a flat tire and his 2-year-old daughter inside while he was under the influence of unspecified drugs.

Thirty-year-old Charles Heffern III of Franklin has been jailed since his arrest Saturday afternoon.

Police say they followed him because of the flat tire, but he refused to stop and instead pulled into a parking lot and ran into a store. Police arrested him about 4:30 p.m. when he tried to leave the store.

Heffern remained is charged with driving under the influence, endangering the welfare of a child and other crimes.
