Josephine “Joy” O. Laube, 85, of Freeport passed away peacefully at 12:14 p.m. Monday at ACMH Hospital in Kittanning.

Joy was born in Natrona Heights on May 26, 1926, the daughter of the late Marie (Stewart) and Harry U. McLaughlin. She was the widow of Francis H. Laube Jr., who passed away in 2000.

Joy was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport, where she had taught Sunday school for many years. She was involved with and enjoyed many of the church activities.

Joy was the past Matron of the Freeport Chapter 179 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Oakmont Country Club and the Women's Western Golf Association. Joy enjoyed traveling with her son, Harry, and always enjoyed going out for lunch.

She is survived by her children, Mary Ann and Hartmut Horsch of Nuremberg, Germany; Francis H. and Darlene Laube III of Buffalo Township and Harry R. Laube of Meadville; and her two sisters, Florence “Sis” Johnston of Freeport and Jane and Richard Striker of Chicora. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Barry and Bethany Laube, Kim Montgomery and her companion, Forrest Mapes, Francis H “Dutch” and Melissa Laube IV, and Lenny Horsch.

Joy is preceded in death by her two brothers, W. Edgar and Robert N. McLaughlin, and her sister, Bernice Kelly.

Laube, who passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Redmond Funeral Home,</B> 524 High St., Freeport. A viewing will be at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Higgins officiating.
