Sandra “Sandy” Leigh Hagen Smith, 53, of Creighton, East Deer Township, died Saturday in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, surrounded by her family.

Born Oct. 12, 1958, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Albert Hagen Jr. and Jean (Dillner) Hagen of Mars. She was raised in Bradford, West Deer Township.

Sandy was a 1976 graduate of Deer Lakes High School, attended Clarion University and graduated from Newport Business Associates, specializing in health care and earning an associate degree. She was a certified nursing assistant and worked for the East Deer Personal Care Home, Creighton, Tandem Health Care, Indiana Township, and was a medical transcriptionist for Health South at the Harmar Township and Sewickley locations.

She was a member of the Faith Community Bible Church, Leechburg. She enjoyed crafting and was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 34 years, Terry Lee Smith; a daughter, Amanda (Paul) Losh of Creighton; a son, Scott Smith of Creighton; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Losh. She also is survived by her two sisters, Beverly (Sherman) Tester of Conneautville and Maxine Hagen of Butler; her nieces, Rebecca (Stephen) Drew of Grove City, Holly (Richard) Reed of Pulaski and Nichole Vaughn of Butler; a nephew, Thomas Vaughn, of Butler; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

<B>SMITH</B> — Family and friends of Sandra “Sandy” Leigh Hagen Smith, who died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the <B>PAUL R. AJAK FUNERAL HOME</B>, 921 Freeport Road, Creighton. Sandy’s wishes were to be cremated.A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Faith Community Bible Church, 111 Kathleen Road, Leechburg. The Rev. Mike Kelley, her pastor, will officiate. The burial will be private.
