Fallout from the Super Bowl

I, along with 111 million other people, had my butt indenting a sofa cushion watching the Super Bowl Sunday night.

It was an intriguing matchup and proved once again that the NFL is all about momentum.

The N.Y. football Giants had lots of it heading into the big game.

It stood to reason the New England Patriots had a heaping pile of old mo on their side, as well. But the Giants had more of it.

And, thus, the Giants won again. The team hot at the right time takes home the Lombardi Trophy.

Here are some other observations from Super Bowl Sunday:

•Worst. Touchdown. Ever.

I understand the strategy, and it was a good one: The Patriots let Ahmad Bradshaw score a TD late so Tom Brady and the offense had a chance to drive for a winning touchdown.

It just set up one of the most awkward game-winning touchdown “runs” in NFL history, let alone the Super Bowl.

Bradshaw wanted to take the Maurice Jones-Drew approach and take a knee at the 1, but couldn’t make up his mind, so he fell on his rump into the end zone for what was the winning score.

Zero for style points. A 10 on the laugh meter.

• When will the NFL learn?

Just chuck the Super Bowl halftime show in the trash (toss the Pro Bowl on the scrap heap while you are at it).

The NFL probably wishes M.I.A. were really missing in action after flashing an obscene gesture during the halftime performance.

Meanwhile, Madonna was doing her best Milli Vanilli and lip-synced through her mini-concert.

Ugh.

The NFL should just have Animal Planet’s “Puppy Bowl” as the halftime entertainment. No F-bombs there; just a few poop bombs.

• Speaking of Puppy Bowl...

Nine-week-old Fumble, a Chihuahua/Terrier mix was named the MVP — Most Valuable Puppy — at Puppy Bowl VIII.

He’s a sort of James Harrison in fur — ultra-aggressive, but warm and cuddly at heart.

• Is Manning Eli-te?

The post-game talk has been dominated by the topic of whether or not Eli Manning is an elite quarterback.

Even before his Super Bowl win he was an elite QB.

The dude threw for nearly 5,000 yards and set an NFL record with 15 touchdown passes in the fourth quarter this season. That’s about as elite as you can get.

The real question is will Eli reach the Hall of Fame.

Let’s see: two Super Bowl wins, three 4,000-yard passing seasons in a row and 185 TD passes.

I think he’s in now.

• Tom Coughlin is like a feline.

This guy has more lives than Toonces The Driving Cat.

Wasn’t he fired about 10 times in the last four years? The more his job is in peril, the more Super Bowls he wins.
